‘Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills’ Star Teddi Mellencamp Explains ‘Anxiety’ Over Baby’s Upcoming Surgery
Although fans are used to seeing “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star Teddi Mellencamp at the center of some drama with her castmates, the Bravo star has been quietly dealing with anxiety after learning her 4-month-old daughter, Dove, would need to have neurosurgery.
Teddi, who also shares a daughter, Slate, 7, and son, Cruz, 5, with her husband, Edwin Arroyave, revealed that their baby girl would undergo an operation after being diagnosed with Lambdoid Craniosynostosis.
On Monday, the reality star opened up about her fears regarding her daughter’s upcoming neurosurgery in a lengthy post on Instagram. Teddi shared a photo of her baby girl and detailed their journey.
“Dealing with anxiety, especially when in the ‘public eye,’ isn’t easy; and going into July it’s at an all-time high,” she wrote in the caption.
“I was torn as to whether I should share this information, but as someone who tries to be as transparent as possible, and knowing I have a platform to reach others in similar situations, I would like to update you all.”
Teddi revealed that she and Edwin have been quietly talking with doctors after learning about their baby girl’s condition. “Our sweet baby Dove was diagnosed with Lambdoid Craniosynostosis and has to undergo neurosurgery at the end of the month,” she explained.
Teddi and her husband went through a similar experience following the birth of their son.
“We are so grateful to have an amazing team of doctors and surgeons who have caught this early and will be working on her. Originally, like Cruz before her, we thought Dove had Torticollis and would likely need a doc band for re-shaping,” she wrote.
“Instead a CT scan showed Lambdoid Craniosynostosis (Lambdoid craniosynostosis is a very rare type of non-syndromic craniosynostosis and occurs when one of the lambdoid sutures at the back of the head fuses before birth).”
Although the surgery is typically successful, Teddi admitted that she and her family were still feeling stressed about the upcoming operation.
“The recovery is about a week in the hospital and a couple weeks at home with a very high success rate. So although we are filled with nerves as neurosurgery sounds scary, we have our faith that she will be ok,” she shared.
“Please keep baby Dove in your prayers, and if you have had a child with this same surgery, please let me know below, as I would love any additional insight and support.”
Although Teddi has decided to share her daughter’s story with fans, it is unclear whether she will allow the “RHOBH” cameras to document the family’s journey.
“The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” airs on Wednesdays at 8 p.m. EDT on Bravo.
