The Reason Iggy Azalea Delayed ‘Digital Distortion’ Album; Singer Opens Up About ‘Crumbled’ Nick Young Relationship

Iggy Azalea’s forthcoming album “Digital Distortion” won’t be hitting shelves until next year. The singer’s second studio album was initially supposed to be released in July, but after going through a messy split from former fiancé Nick Young Azalea said she was forced to push things back.

“I needed a lot of time,” Azalea explained to People magazine Thursday. “I mean, you wake up one morning and your fiancé is having a baby with someone else, you’re going to need some time, right?” The “Team” singer, 24, also told the outlet that she wanted to go back and add some “sexy songs” to the album now that she’s single. “Digital Distortion” will now be released in January after Azalea adds an “extra little sprinkle of perfection.”

“I want to say stuff about being single,” she said. “I obviously didn’t write that on my [original album] because when I wrote it I was about to get married … I don’t want to go and promote my album and get asked about my relationship that has just crumbled.” In June, news broke that Young was expecting another baby with his ex-girlfriend Keonna Green. The pair already share a son named Nick Jr.

The Australian rapper told People to help her cope with her breakup from Young, she turned to horseback riding. Azalea has always made it known that she’s fond of horses, and told the magazine that they helped calm her down after her split. “I’m not in control! They weigh a ton! I think it’s good, it’s humbling, very humbling,” Azalea explained. “I think horses definitely have helped me a lot with that.”

Since calling off her engagement, Azalea has been spending time with fellow rapper French Montana. The pair first sparked dating rumors in July after they were spotted hanging out in Las Vegas. This week, Khloe Kardashian’s ex opened up about his relationship with Azalea telling Hot97 that they met several years ago while shooting the 2012 XXL Freshman cover. “I always knew her, but she was always in a relationship,” he said.

Last month, Young was asked his thoughts on Azalea and Montana dating and the basketball player seemed to be onboard with the romance telling a TMZ photographer that he was “happy” for them. “I hope they get married,” he added.
