After Princess Diana gave her revealing Panorama interview, in which she divulged details about Princess Charles’ affair with Camilla Parker Bowles, she upset several members of the royal family. Princess Margaret, who wasn’t a fan of Diana throughout her marriage to Prince Charles, was particularly upset about what she considered the “ultimate betrayal.”

According to the Channel 5 documentary, “The Royal Family At War,” the strained relationship between Princess Diana and Princess Margaret became unrepairable following the Princess of Wales’ scandalous interview.

Queen Elizabeth’s former press secretary, Dicker Arbiter claimed Margaret couldn’t stand the site of Diana after she exposed Charles’ affair. “She would turn any magazine that had Diana on the cover over. It was a cold war,” he explained.

However, journalist, Victoria Arbiter suggested Margaret’s true issue with Diana stemmed from her violations of royal protocol. “Margaret could really hold a grudge and she wanted people to behave as she believed a royal should,” the reporter explained.

“She was quite grand and didn’t identify with Diana. She thought it should be all about the Queen. She supported her sister until the end of her life.”

Princess Margaret wasn’t the only member of the royal family who reportedly disliked Diana. Prince Charles’ sister, Princess Anne, who is known for her “no-nonsense” attitude, also had a hard time getting along with Diana.

Despite their differences, Princess Margaret and Princess Anne both attended Diana’s funeral in 1997.
