'Red Dead Redemption 2' Leak Reveals First-Person Mode, Online Multiplayer Game Modes
Rockstar Games has delayed “Red Dead Redemption 2” for an October release date, which may have disappointed a lot of fans. Despite the delay, a recent leak may have already given fans some new details on what types of gameplay they can expect from the upcoming western.
Trusted Reviews was able to receive a documentation revealing several information about “Red Dead Redemption 2.” The site claims that they received the documentation back in August 2017, but decided not to share the information at the time.
Since then, some of the information presented in the documentation were revealed to be accurate when Rockstar officially released some promotional materials. Now that it looks like the leaked document appears to be legit, the site has decided to share the rest of the leaked information on the upcoming game.
Online Modes
The documents revealed that the online game modes of “Red Dead Redemption 2” will have Battle Royale, Revive and Survive, and Money Grab. Battle Royale mode seems to suggest that it may be similar to “PlayerUnknown’s Battleground” or “Fortnite.” This type of gameplay is becoming increasingly popular and it makes sense that Rockstar Games would find a way to integrate it for “Red Dead Redemption 2.”
Revive and Survive will let two teams go head-to-head while trying to survive. Players will have a limited amount of time to revive their fallen teammates before they are completed eliminated from the game. Money Grab also features two competing teams, but the objective of the game is to collect bags of money from a central location and return it to their respective bases in order to win a round.
“Red Dead Redemption 2” is also expected to have something that’s akin to GTA Online, where players can explore the vast open-world. Another element that will be borrowed from GTA Online is letting players have their own apartments in the form of tents. Tents are upgradeable and can be purchased from in-game shops.
“Red Dead Redemption 2” Online will also have NPC present in the open-world environment. These NPC can provide players with equipment and missions. When players complete tasks and missions, they will be rewarded. There will also be free online events where players can choose to participate and receive more rewards.
Lastly, Rockstar seems to be preparing a companion app for smartphones which will launch alongside “Red Dead Redemption 2.” The developer is also trying to add more social element to the game, while also including a poker mini-game.
New Gameplay Features
Everything that fans enjoyed from the first “Red Dead Redemption” they should expect to be part of RDR2. However, the sequel will add some new elements. For example, there’s a new Slums Market where players will be able to purchase new equipment for a reduced price. Vehicles are also set to return with horses, carriages handcarts and mine carts. Vehicles will also have variants, but it’s still uncertain if players will be able to customize them.
The leaked documents also hinted that “Red Dead Redemption 2” will have railway trains as an optional mode of transportation, complete will explorable areas and NPCs. Side activities include Horsemanship challenges which will let player increase their ranks.
The most important change in gameplay is that “Red Dead Redemption 2” is said to arrive with an optional first-person view mode. The site claims that first-person mode will be available for both the campaign and for online multiplayer. Rockstar already introduced first-person mode in “Grand Theft Auto V,” so players should expect a similar experience. The Dead Eye ability is also said to make a return.
As for the campaign itself, a player’s decision in the game can shift the story. Apparently, there will be times in the campaign when a player’s action can affect the way the story unfolds. This means that outcomes of missions, objectives and dialogues will depend entirely on the player’s actions.
This leak seems believable enough and Trusted Reviews was up front about how it got its information. However, it’s entirely possible that some of these are inaccurate, while other may have been made up, as pointed out by Game Rant. For now, fans should try their best to manage their expectations as the game won’t be out for some time.
“Red Dead Redemption 2” release date is slated for Oct. 26, 2018 for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
