Producer Hiram Garcia revealed that Ryan Reynolds' cameo in 2019's "Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw" was the reason behind the actor's selection for the newly dropped movie, "Red Notice," ScreenRant reported.

Garcia explained that it is every producer's dream to have a giant, megastar cast in a movie and finally "Red Notice" got Reynolds, Dwayne Johnson and Gal Gadot.

Johnson played John Hartley in the movie and the producer told the outlet that they knew they had a character for Hartley's partner but wasn't sure who will play it on-screen.

"As we were starting to hone in on it at the time DJ [Dwayne Johnson] and I were shooting Hobbs & Shaw in London and Ryan was coming in for his cameo," the producer recalled.

"I just remember watching them together, being like, 'Oh my God, these guys are incredible together.' Just one little scene sitting across each other in a diner was fire," he added. "And I remember calling our partners and just being like, ‘I think we have the guy,’" Garcia added.

Garcia further noted that right after the cameo, Johnson was on board while Reyolds was convinced after reading the script.

"DJ was so fired up after that cameo where he was on board as well," he explained. "And so we focused on Ryan for that. We were very fortunate when we shared the script with him. He jumped right on board," the producer said.

Considering Gadot's casting, the producer said, "Same thing with Gal, it usually takes a little bit of finagling when you're dealing with stars of that caliber, but the script and the concept was so fun that they both jumped on instantly."

Although Garcia explained that there are certain movies with "really good energy" and still they get "buried in development for 10 years," thankfully everything worked out for them.

"Red Notice" was released in theaters on Nov. 5 and on Netflix on Nov. 12.

On the work front, Reynolds will next feature in a sci-fi movie, "The Adam Project," which is helmed by director Shawn Levy. The movie also stars Jennifer Garner, Mark Ruffalo and Zoe Saldana.
