Regina Hall Admits She's 'Nervous' About Hosting 2022 Oscars With Wanda Sykes, Amy Schumer
Regina Hall, who is all set to co-host this year's Academy Awards with Wanda Sykes and Amy Schumer, has admitted that though she's "excited," she's also "nervous" about the event.
"I think it's exciting, like, it's Women's History Month, it's quite historic, like all of us together," Hall told Entertainment Tonight during Independent Spirit Awards held at Santa Monica Pier Sunday. "I'm kind of excited and nervous and everything! But I think it's gonna be a fun night."
The 51-year-old actress went on to share that it is a "little scary" to work with Schumer and Skyes as they have hosted many shows before and received appreciation for their comic work.
"I mean, that's the big thing of working it out," she said. "The part that feels good [is] the fact that, you know, I am surrounded by that [level of comedic talent], but it's also the part that's probably a little scary, too, because they are really great at like hard jokes and doing stand-up."
Hall jokingly said that if her performance on stage doesn't go as planned, then she will "sink the ship." "That's plan B," she added.
Hall presented the Best Supporting Male award at the Independent Spirit Awards. Kyle Buchanan, the awards season columnist for The New York Times, tweeted a photo of her from the show. In the caption, he wrote, "First Indie Spirits presenter just so happens to be cohosting the Oscars… Regina Hall. (And she's giving you golden statuette with this look.)"
Last week, Schumer also opened up about hosting Academy Awards 2022 with Hall and Sykes, noting that it is "fun" to work with them. "Wanda and Regina are like complete comedy royalty to me," Schumer told Entertainment Tonight. "And for the three of us getting together, we're having an absolute blast."
The 94th Academy Awards ceremony is slated to premiere on March 27.
Previously, Hall has hosted shows like "The Talk" and "BET Awards 2019." Sykes, on the other hand, has guest-hosted "The Ellen DeGeneres Show," "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" and "The View." She also hosted the "28th Annual Trumpet Awards" and "29th Annual GLAAD Media Awards."
Whereas, Schumer has been a regular on "Saturday Night Live" since 2015. She will be next seen in a series called "Life & Beth," which is slated for release on March 18.
