Renée Zellweger will gear up for a new TV project at Peacock as she is starring in a World War II drama series.

The 52-year-old Hollywood actress has scored another TV role with NBCUniversal’s video streaming service. Zellweger is starring in Peacock’s “Avenger Field” that is currently in development, Variety exclusively reported Tuesday.

The project is based on a true story, and Zellweger will portray the Women Airforce Service Pilots (WASPs) real-life leader Jackie Cohran, who took the lead in the secret all-female U.S. Airforce program during the time of Adolf Hitler.

On top of starring in the series, Zellweger is also executive producing with Carmella Casinelli under their Big Picture Co. banner. The one-hour show from MGM Television will be directed by Susanna White with the script written by Felicia D. Henderson.

Henderson, who will also serve as showrunner, is going to executive produce the project along with White; Steve Stark and Stacey Levin of Toluca Pictures, Emily Rose and Jill North of North Rose Pictures, and Connie Tavel.

The news of Zellweger’s upcoming TV show comes on the same day as the debut of her limited series with NBC titled “The Thing About Pam.” The actress stars as Pam Hupp on the show.

It appears that the “Bridget Jones” star is eager to do several projects after taking a break from her acting career. She also just recently starred in Netflix’s “What/If.”

Meanwhile, her hiatus from the spotlight proved to be very beneficial and productive for her as she managed to take law classes while not working in front of the camera.

When the two-time Oscar winner appeared on the “Today” show for an interview with Hoda Kotb and Savannah Guthrie Monday, she disclosed that she studied law during her hiatus from 2010 to 2016.

“I snuck into UCLA for a little while and did some public policy. International law. Interested in politics,” she told the hosts before noting that studying law was “one of my favorite things.”

Back in 2019, Zellweger told Vulture that she stepped away from the movie industry because of mental issues.

“I wasn’t healthy. I wasn’t taking care of myself. I was the last thing on my list of priorities,” she said.
