Phaedra Parks has opened up about raising two children as a single mom.
The former "Real Housewives of Atlanta" star, 47, is an attorney, mortician, producer and actress, but for her, the most demanding role is being a mother to two boys.
"The single mom life is crazy, but I wouldn’t change it for anything," Parks told Page Six. "They’re my world."
Parks shares two sons with her ex-husband Apollo Nida — 11-year-old Ayden and 8-year-old Dylan. The former couple finalized their divorce in 2017.
Fans last saw her kids on TV in 2017, the year she left "RHOA" after seven seasons. Ayden, who has been nicknamed "Prince," and Dylan, dubbed "Mr. President," stole the show with their precocious statements and stylish outfits.
According to Parks, her sons "have grown up so much" since their last TV appearance.
"Dylan is a third grader and Ayden just entered middle school. They’re definitely polar opposites," the proud mom shared. "Ayden is very similar to me in that he’s super charismatic and wants to be a lawyer. And then Dylan is super creative and loves the arts, which is the other side of me."
Although parenting is fun, it also comes with challenges. According to Parks, she's had to find ways to discuss the reignited Black Lives Matter movement with her kids.
"It was very tough because Ayden and Dylan go to a very elite private school where they are the minority," she said. "A lot of people did not share our political views and it was very difficult to explain to them why it was important to fight back against things like police brutality. There have been very interesting conversations that I thought I would never have with my children because it sounds so much like the ‘60s."
The reality star, who has taken her children to rallies for racial justice, explained, "I take them so they’ll not only be very in touch with black culture but also aware that there is a struggle for people and not everyone lives like we do. They’re very privileged."
Parks further said she teaches her boys to give back to those less fortunate. She has them pack meals for the elderly and those with food insecurity during the holidays. The lawyer said she didn't want her children to be disconnected from reality due to their socioeconomic status.
But she said her sons appreciate those activities, sharing, "They really do love doing it with me."
Parks also revealed that she is dating and that she's having a "wonderful time."
Her last public romance was with actor Medina Islam. They split earlier this year.
