Why Phaedra Parks Won’t Return To ‘Real Housewives Of Atlanta’ Amid Medina Islam Relationship
Following Phaedra Parks’ scandalous “Real Housewives of Atlanta” Season 9 exit, fans have been wondering if she would ever return to the Bravo reality series.
The 46-year-old, who is appearing on “Marriage Boot Camp: Hip Hop Edition” alongside her boyfriend Medina Islam, opened up about why she isn’t interested in appearing on the “RHOA,” even though former co-star NeNe Leakes has expressed her desire for her return.
In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Phaedra revealed that she would prefer to focus on her relationship and her family rather than return to the drama she experienced on “The Real Housewives of Atlanta.”
“It’s flattering that people often ask about me, but right now I’m trying to find love. That’s where my focus is,” she said.
During her final season on “RHOA,” Phaedra found herself at the center of a scandal that ultimately got her fired from the series. At the Season 9 reunion, Phaedra admitted that she lied to Porsha Williams when she alleged that Kandi Burruss and her husband Todd Tucker planned to drug Porsha and take advantage of her.
Phaedra told ET that her final season on the reality series was “dark,” and that she wasn’t interested in revisiting the past.
“This is the thing, life is about growth. I’m not a one-dimensional person, and you’ve got to do things in the best interest of who you want to be and, as a parent, who you want your children to see you as. And so, as a mother, I want to do things that my children can always look back on and be very proud of.”
Phaedra shares two sons, Ayden, 10, and Dylan, 7, with her ex-husband Apollo Nida. “I’m at a point now where my little guys are seven and 10, and we make decisions as a family,” she explained.
“When I decided to go on Marriage Boot Camp, we had a very long conversation about it, because I explained to them what Mommy was doing and [asked if] they were OK with it, and so that’s where I am with all of my decisions. It has to be the best thing for me as a parent, parenting two African American boys who will grow up to be the president and the king.”
“Marriage Boot Camp: Hip Hop Edition” airs Thursdays at 9 p.m. EDT on WE tv.
