Ricky Martin Could Face Incest Charges After Domestic Abuse Victim Revealed To Be His Nephew: Report

Ricky Martin is facing incest accusations after it was reported that he was in a relationship with his nephew. The news started gaining steam Friday but Martin remains unfazed, at least if based on his recent Instagram Story updates.

Earlier this month, a restraining order was issued against the Latin actor-singer after an unnamed petitioner demonstrated in court that "there is a substantial possibility of immediate risk of abuse." The "Livin' La Vida Loca" singer's brother Eric Martin has now revealed the complainant is their nephew, Dennis Sanchez, according to Spanish publication, Marca.

Martin and Sanchez broke up after seven months of dating. However, the actor-singer refused to accept the separation, according to court documents filed earlier this month. "The petitioner fears for his safety," the document had alleged. Martin was ordered to "refrain from making phone calls and sending text or voice messages to the personal, work, family, or friend phone numbers of the petitioner." He was prohibited from contacting the alleged victim via email and social media as well.

Martin had tweeted a statement on July 4 where he refuted the allegations against him. It was reported that Martin was physically abusive toward Sanchez and also subjected him to psychological attacks. Martin and Sanchez were summoned to appear for a court hearing on July 21 which marks the expiration date of the restraining order. However, the case has taken an unexpected turn after Sanchez's identity was revealed.

His attorney, Marty Singer, dismissed these claims in the New York Post saying, "Unfortunately, the person who made this claim is struggling with deep mental health challenges. Ricky Martin has, of course, never been -- and would never be -- involved in any kind of sexual or romantic relationship with his nephew." Martin can face up to 50 years in prison under Puerto Rico's laws if the "incest charges" turn out to be true, the New York Post reported.

Martin who is an openly gay celebrity, came out in 2010 and has been married to Syrian artist Jwan Yosef since 2017; they share four children. He has been making music for 38 years. His latest EP, "Play," was released on Wednesday.
