Rihanna Reveals How One Of Her Pregnancy Cravings Has A Connection To Home
You can take Rihanna out of Barbados, but you cannot take Barbados out of Rihanna. The singer, who is pregnant with her first child, recently shared how one of her pregnancy cravings is reminiscent of home.
The 34-year-old artist, who is gearing up to become a parent with boyfriend A$AP Rocky, 33, revealed that she eats dozens of tangerines sprinkled with salt. While it may not seem appealing to everyone, the unique combination is something that is traditional in her home country of Barbados, Rihanna said in an interview with Vogue.
"It has to be with salt and only with salt because in Barbados we take our fruits to the ocean and soak them. Trust me, it really is a thing," she said, about devouring tangerines with salt.
However, the rest of her pregnancy cravings are those several other women over the world experience, too, including her newfound love for chocolates. "I usually hate desserts, but all of a sudden you come close to me with a chocolate-covered donut and you've got my heart forever."
The "Umbrella" singer then shared that having a baby wasn't exactly on her and A$AP Rocky's agenda. They weren't necessarily "planning" the pregnancy, but they "certainly" weren't "planning against it," either.
"I don't know when I ovulate or any of that type of s---. We just had fun. And then it was just there on the test. I didn't waste any time. I called him inside and showed him. Then I was in the doctor's office the next morning and our journey began," she revealed.
While Rihanna always thought having a baby comes after getting married, she said "Who the f--- says it has to be that way? I'm certainly not gonna let that get in the way of me being a mom."
Just last month, while in her third trimester, Rihanna told People that she's having fun experimenting with fashion as her whole body is growing and changing. "I'm enjoying not having to worry about covering up my tummy. If I feel a little chubby, it's like, whatever! It's a baby!" she shared.
The beauty mogul also said that her maternity style gives her that extra shot of confidence when she feels like she needs it.
"Right now, being pregnant, some days you just feel like, 'Ugh, I just want to lay here on this couch all day.' But when you put on a little face and a little lipstick, you transform. You put some clothes on, and it's like, when you look good, you feel good. I've heard that for a very long time, but it's true. It really can get you up off that couch and make you feel like a bad bitch," she said.
The couple first revealed their pregnancy in January after photos taken in the rapper's neighborhood of Harlem were released.
