Popular blockchain platform and remittance service provider Ripple is set to debut an album in partnership with music integration platform Styngr and record label Armada Music co-founded by popular EDM artists Armin van Buuren, Maykel Piron and David Lewis.
As per the official announcement, Ripple and the other firms will debut the exclusive album in Maladroids, a game hosted on the XRP Ledger, an open source, public and decentralized Layer 1 blockchain.
The game's first level will be released this month and "the collaboration will see an in-game radio station with a curated playlist of electronic dance music (EDM) in partnership with music label Armada Music, including an industry-first move to release new tracks from Tom Staar and Kryder, two major artists of the Genre," the statement confirmed.
"Together with these amazing partners, artists and dance producers, we've been able to co-create a user experience in this game, Maladroids. The dance music space has always found itself at the forefront of technological development, so working on this project feels very natural to our team," said Michel Peek, Armada Music's Head of Publishing.
Moreover, the XRP Ledger-based game will soon feature audio emotes and audio NFTs for the players and also Staar and Kryder performing new songs each month for the game's first 180 days. Interestingly, the financial details of the deal were not included.
There has been a significant surge in NFT and metaverse adoption in the music industry as recently popular hip-hop veterans Eminem and Snoop Dogg turned into their Bored Ape Yacht NFT avatars at the debut of their Yuga Labs project at the MTV Video Music Awards in a virtual performance hosted in the metaverse in late August.
Additionally, the world's largest music festival, Tomorrowland, struck a deal with FTX Europe, the European arm of crypto exchange FTX, to bring Web 3 and NFT experiences to its fans during a Belgium concert earlier this summer.
