'Rise Of The Tomb Raider' PC Release Date Revealed, 4K Resolution On Tap
Square Enix announced the release date for the PC version of "Rise of the Tomb Raider" Tuesday. The exclusive period for Xbox One and Xbox 360 will be over Jan. 28, when "Rise of the Tomb Raider" will be available for Windows 10 and Steam. The game will retail for $59.99 with a digital deluxe version --with the season pass included -- priced at $89.99 and a collector's edition that includes additional items for $149.99. The PS4 version of the game will arrive later in 2016.
"Rise of the Tomb Raider is the sequel to the 2013 next generation reboot "Tomb Raider." After the events of the first game, Lara Croft is not quite the legendary adventurer gamers may have been familiar with, but she proved to be a capable explorer. "Tomb Raider" garnered good reviews when it was released with many fans excited for the future of the franchise.
"Rise of the Tomb Raider," released Nov. 10 for Xbox 360 and Xbox One, was considered one of the best games of 2015. The game has a Metacritic score of 86 based on 94 positive reviews from critics, five mixed reviews and no negative reviews.
"After uncovering an ancient mystery, Lara must explore the most treacherous and remote regions of Siberia to find the secret of immortality before a ruthless organization known as Trinity. Lara must use her wits and survival skills, form new alliances, and ultimately embrace her destiny as the Tomb Raider," reads the plot synopsis.
The PC version of "Rise of the Tomb Raider" will support 4K resolution, according to Square Enix. Minimum PC requirements include Windows 7, an Intel Core i3-2100 or AMD equivalent processor, Nvidia GTX 650 or AMD HD7770 2GB GPU, at least 6GB of RAM and 25GB of hard drive space. The PS4 version of "Rise of the Tomb Raider" is scheduled for "Holiday 2016" with no further details revealed Tuesday.
