‘Riverdale’ Season 2 Spoilers: Will There Be Another Shooting At Pop’s Diner?
“Riverdale” Season 2 could feature another shooting at Pop’s Chock’ Lit Shoppe.
Ahead of the hit The CW series’ premiere next month, a photo of the diner’s exterior was uploaded on the show’s official Twitter account. Everything seems fine inside Pop’s, but the lights suddenly go off and a spark of light is shown. By the looks of it, another shooting may take place inside Archie (KJ Apa), Veronica (Camila Mendes), Betty (Lili Reinhart) and Jughead’s (Cole Sprouse) favorite hangout.
Last season, Archie’s dad, Fred (Luke Perry), was shot by a masked man who suddenly entered Pop’s while they were having a conversation. According to “Riverdale” executive producer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, the identity of the masked shooter will be revealed in the premiere. This means that fans won’t have to wait until the finale to find out whether or not Fred survived.
Meanwhile, Sprouse recently spoke with BuzzFeed about “Riverdale” Season 2, as well as his character. According to him, Jughead will be forced to communicate with his new friends at Southside High, and he will no longer feel left out since he belongs with them.
“His fear of interaction is now something he has to face firsthand, and with it, his eventual understanding that his actions will always piss one person off. His ‘don’t-care attitude,’ which we get more of in Season 2, is very ‘digest Jughead,’” he said.
Jughead will also continue to help his father, FP (Skeet Ulrich), get out of prison in “Riverdale” Season 2. “Jughead has been dealt a pretty bad hand. He’s trying to make his own path and it’s not being accepted. He has to acclimate, even temporarily, to pursue the questions he needs to answer. He burns with a desire to help his father, currently his only real family member, and will stop at very little to do so,” he explained.
Sprouse also dubbed Jughead as “the soul of Riverdale” because of his neutral stance of several issues. Keeping him grounded is his girlfriend, Betty, who he also admires a lot. “I view Jughead’s admirations and narrative arc as a reflection of the enlightenment or decay of not just Jughead, but of the soul of town as a whole,” he said.
“Riverdale” Season 2 will premiere on The CW on Oct. 11 at 9 p.m. EDT.
