‘Rizzoli & Isles’ TNT Season 7 Spoilers: Jane And Maura’s Story Not Over? Series Finale Leaves Door Open For Movie Or Reboot TV Show
TNT’s famous crime series starring two powerful women, “Rizzoli & Isles,” concluded its show after seven seasons. Homicide Detective Jane Rizzoli and Chief Medical Examiner Dr. Maura Isles hung their badge and lab coat respectively to explore different professions.
While Jane (Angie Harmon) moved to Quantico to take up a teaching position at the FBI Academy, Maura (Sasha Alexander) decided to move to Paris in order to write her novel in the series finale. The icing on the cake in Season 7, episode 13 was that Jane decided to use up her extra vacation days and accompany her best friend to Paris.
The “Rizzoli & Isles” series finale also showed Frankie (Jordan Bridges) announce his engagement to Nina (Idara Victor) and Korsak (Bruce McGill) finally retiring. A series of goodbye videos were filmed by each character for Jane’s farewell party. The farewells from each character on the show certainly proved to be tear-jerkers for long-time fans of the TNT series.
So, is this the end of Rizzles? Will there be no Jane and Maura in the future?
“Rizzoli & Isles” showrunner Jan Nash was asked by TVGuide in an interview if she would ever consider doing a reboot to which she replied, “Of course! If everybody wanted to do that. Honestly, this is such a wonderful group of people, you’d never turn down a chance to work with them again. So, yeah, if somebody wanted to make a movie or whatever, I would totally be open to it.”
Nash was again asked by TVLine if a TV-movie might happen somewhere down the road where the producers can show Jane and Maura enjoying their vacation in Paris. “We’re ready! Let’s go to Paris,” she said.
Meanwhile, Nash also said that the most important thing she wanted to show in the series finale of “Rizzoli & Isles” was that Jane and Maura will always be best friends and that remains unchanged despite circumstances.
Furthermore, the showrunner explained that the goodbye videos were more the “Rizzoli & Isles” actors saying goodbye to fans and bidding adieu to the show.
