Rob Gronkowski Coming Out Of Retirement Hinges On Tom Brady's Plans
KEY POINTS
- Tom Brady expresses full support for whatever move that Rob Gronkowski plans for his career
- Gronkowski possibly returning to the NFL does not look promising, especially if Brady officially retires
- The Buccaneers were willing to give Gronkowski a chance to return to NFL action
Tom Brady didn't exactly have a great 2022-23 NFL season, and all eyes will be on him in the offseason once his current deal with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers runs out.
After saying that he would retire during the offseason, the 45-year-old future NFL Hall of Famer retracted that decision and went on to suit up for the Bucs this NFL season.
Hence, it will be anyone's guess if the seven-time Super Bowl champion will play on despite his age.
One person tied to that is the future of Rob Gronkowski.
The 33-year-old tight end did not play a single game this NFL season, but "Gronk" did send feelers of wanting to play professional football again.
Gronkowski claimed that he was working out after reaching out to the Buccaneers in a report by the Tampa Bay Times.
Several options were discussed, including potentially placing the 2014 NFL Comeback of the Year in the practice squad.
However, the Buccaneers were willing to add him to the active roster
All that died down although Gronkowski posted a cryptic tweet last Tuesday, December 21 saying that he was "kinda bored."
As far as the current NFL season is concerned, possibly seeing the five-time Pro Bowler return is slowly dwindling.
However, the only plausible time to see Gronkowski play again would be next NFL season.
But even with that said, it may hinge on the decision of Brady.
Gronkowski made it clear that he would only return to NFL action if he were to play alongside the three-time NFL Most Valuable Player via TMZ.
As for Brady, he considers Gronkowski as part of his family.
While he appears clueless as well on what the New York native wants to do, he will support whatever Gronkowski decides when he spoke to Joey Knight of the Tampa Bay Times.
"He's like family to me; he's kind of like one of my kids actually. Every now and then I've got to put him in timeout for misbehaving, for eating paste and stuff like that. Whatever he ever decides (about) his future, I'll be fully supportive," Brady stated.
