Rob Gronkowski Confirms Retirement, Possible Tom Brady Commentary Team-Up

Few other NFL stars can match the charisma and overwhelming personality that Rob Gronkowski presents and the four-time Super Bowl champion has made it known that he wants to reunite with Tom Brady sometime soon, but not on the field.

The Athletic recently caught up with the longtime tight end and confirmed that he had finally closed the door on ever returning to the field, even if Brady makes a pass at him to give it one more go-around.

"No, no. I'm done, man. Tom [Brady] is not reopening that door. I don't know. Maybe he is. I don't know," Gronkowski stated as quoted.

The former New England Patriots teammates have spent so many seasons together that many NFL fans acknowledge them as arguably the best one-two punch the league has ever seen.

After winning three titles with the Patriots, Gronkowski, now 33, followed Brady to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers ahead of the 2020 season after announcing his retirement in March 2019 due to the injuries on his body and how it affected his mental health.

They would go on to win Super Bowl LV in a lopsided 31-9 victory over Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs for Gronkowski's fourth ring and Brady's record-extending seventh.

Gronkowski also stressed that if the opportunity to team up with Brady becomes available again, he would be more than happy to take it. However, it would be in the commentary booth.

"There really haven't been any plans or anything or any talks about it, but that definitely could be a possibility. We could banter back and forth in some way, somehow, maybe do a couple of promos together or whatever it is. That will be down the road. Time will have to tell with that," he said.

It was announced in May 2022 that Brady had signed on with Fox Sports on a 10-year, $375 million deal upon his retirement, with him confirming that he will officially appear on the network for the 2024 season.

As for Gronkowski, he is no stranger to being a personality in front of the camera as he had hosted programs such as Crashletes on Nickelodeon, Verizon go90's MVP (their twist on "Shark Tank"), the 2022 Kids' Choice Awards and WWE's biggest show of the year WrestleMania 36 in 2020.

His first NFL-related gig came in 2019 during his one-year retirement spell, appearing as an analyst for Fox.

Seeing the pair chop it up in the booth, possibly similar to ESPN's "Manningcast" where brothers Peyton and Eli Manning, while the game is going on and providing deep insight into the game may just propel Gronkowski and Brady to even greater heights in the eyes of fans.

But until Brady's 2024 date appears, Gronkowski will continue doing his own thing as he finds life after football.
