Robert Pattinson Not Dating Lily Collins Despite Rumors

Despite rumors, Robert Pattinson and Lily Collins were not dating, a report said Monday.

The claim put forth by NW magazine was debunked by Gossip Cop. The magazine claimed the duo was a “thing” already. According to the report by Gossip Cop, the magazine asserted they “sparked rumors they [Pattinson and Collins] might be more than mates as they cozied up together at a benefit for the Go Campaign charity” gala. It was held in Los Angeles on Oct. 20.

The magazine alleged the duo were “whispering in each other’s ears and cracking jokes,” which made it look like the two were dating. They quoted Collins saying she was “incredibly honored” to join Pattinson as an ambassador for the organization which helps kids in need across the world. The magazine then claimed Collins “looks more like ‘hot and bothered’ than ‘honored.’”

As Gossip Cop pointed out, that was not what the actress actually said. In an interview at the Go Campaign's annual gala in Los Angeles, which the two attended together, the 29-year-old said: “I’m incredibly honored to raise funds and awareness for orphans and children around the world.”

The magazine, which has been discredited for its false reporting many times before, then noted how Collins was in the running more than a decade ago to play Pattinson’s love interest Bella Swan in the “Twilight” films, a part which eventually was taken up by Pattinson’s ex-girlfriend Kristen Stewart.

At the end of the article, the magazine editorialized and said, “Maybe this romance was meant to be all along.”

Gossip Cop pointed out it was true the two, who were both ambassadors for the non-profit, did pose together for many photos at the event held almost two weeks ago. It was also true Collins did audition for the role of Bella Swan in the movie “Twilight,” like many other actresses.

But it was not true the two were a “thing” as the magazine claimed. A source close to Collins confirmed to Gossip Cop the two were “just friends.”

Reports in NW magazine has been repeatedly debunked by Gossip Cop. In one instance, the magazine claimed Pattinson was dating Kylie Minogue. Several months later, they claimed Pattinson and Stewart were “going on secret dates,” even though she had been involved with Stella Maxwell for a while. In another instance, the magazine also claimed Pattinson was in a “love triangle” with Sienna Miller and Demi Moore. All the reports were debunked and proven to be untrue.
