Robert Pattinson Talks Fatherhood, Self-Confidence In Hollywood
Robert Pattinson, who rose to fame with the “Twilight” movie series, says he sees himself becoming a father soon and reveals his trials as an actor in Hollywood.
In a recent interview with the German magazine Jolie, the “Twilight” star was asked if he could imagine himself as a father someday, E!News reported. The British actor responded that he “definitely” sees himself as a dad, although he does not know when it will happen. Pattinson added that it was what attracted him to the movie “Life,” where he plays a photographer for Life magazine assigned to shoot pictures of James Dean.
"At my age, you do not get so many chances to play a father — and certainly not one who leaves his family in the lurch," Pattinson said. "Personally I imagine it different, of course."
After getting engaged to British musician FKA twigs, having his own family may be something that the actor has in mind for the near future. In fact, Pattinson has already imagined his future child to be “totally cool and confident.” He told Jolie, “He or she will probably look at me every day and think to yourself: Actually, why is this guy such a funny, quirky oddball?”
Aside from family plans, the 29-year-old star candidly told the magazine his shortcomings as an actor in Hollywood. He said, “Well, someone who voluntarily stands in front of a camera needs to have a bit self-confidence. Nevertheless, I am also shy. And a little control freak. Not the best combination for an actor, because the control has indeed the director.”
Pattinson also explained how he always had the need to prove himself as “an actor, as a star, as a human being.” That thought keeps him grounded. “Although I have often wished I had a bigger ego — then I might have been able to enjoy the bustle a bit more," he stated.
