New reports suggest Rockstar Games’ next title could be a new franchise set in Medieval Europe that will release on PS5 and Project Scarlett.

The new report comes after a Linkedin post from Pawas Saxena, a character artist for Rockstar games hire in October. He posted that he had been “creating modular environment pieces with organic finish carefully following medieval architectural style.” The post was edited shortly after, but screenshots of the post continued to spread on social media.

A leaker on Reddit also said an alleged source said Rockstar’s next game would be set in Medieval Europe and would feature heavy “swordfighting/dueling” mechanics. The targeted released window is allegedly set for Q1 2021 and an announcement is not far off. It would be a next-gen game as well, marking Rockstar’s first official entry on the new systems due out Holiday 2020.

However, the leaker said this information should be taken with a grain of salt.

The post and alleged leak points to Rockstar resurrecting “Project Medieval” as its next big project. According to GamesRadar, “Project Medieval” was a title rumored to be in development at Rockstar several years ago but was reportedly shelved for unknown reasons.

It’s the latest rumor to come out around what Rockstar’s next game following “Red Dead Redemption 2” could be. “Bully 2” has been a subject of long-running speculation, fueled earlier in 2019 when a report revealed Rockstar was working on the game at one time.

Steven Ogg, who played Trevor in “Grand Theft Auto 5,” suggested that “Grand Theft Auto 6” was not far off either. He reportedly made the comments during a panel at the Brazil Game Show in October, allegedly saying games from Rockstar “take 7-8 years to make, do the math.”
