NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell made nearly $128 million over the last two years, The New York Times reported. Goodell’s salary was revealed at the league’s owners meetings in New York City.

Approximately 90% of Goodell's earnings came from bonuses for the latest media rights deals and helping the NFL come to an agreement with the NFL Players Association on a new labor deal. The collective bargaining agreement was approved in March 2020 and lasts through at least 2030.

Goodell made $63,900,050 per year for the fiscal years of 2019-20 and 2020-21, according to the Times. The league declined to comment to the Times about Goodell’s earnings.

NPR reported in April 2020 that Goodell chose to cut his salary for the year from up to $40 million to $0 during the pandemic.

The most recent public record of Goodell’s salary was for 2015 when he made nearly $32 million. Goodell signed a five-year contract, which started in 2019, worth up to $200 million.

The NFL signed national TV deals in March worth more than $100 million, according to reports. The agreements last through the 2033 season, giving broadcast rights to ESPN, Fox, CBS, NBC and Amazon.

The league is expected to generate more revenue in the coming years with the addition of an 18th week to the regular season schedule. The NFL created more postseason games last season by adding an additional playoff team in each conference.

Goodell and the league have been criticized in recent weeks for failing to make public the findings of the NFL’s investigation into the alleged toxic workplace culture at the Washington Football Team.

Goodell has been the NFL commissioner since the start of the 2006 season.
