Romelu Lukaku has made his transfer to Chelsea official and he made big promises of his second stint with the club.
Chelsea paid a £97.5 million ($133.9 million) transfer fee to Inter to bring him home, and he has made a solemn vow to live up to that fee.
“The dream is a reality now so I have to prove myself on the pitch,” the 28-year-old said. “Now I’m here it’s time to get to work and let my performances do the talking. This is a dressing room with personality and I am glad to be back. As a footballer, you fight to achieve your dreams. I am here now and I can’t wait to be on the pitch and perform with my teammates.”
It has barely been a week since his transfer, but Lukaku is determined to prove his worth to Chelsea fans as he has also declared himself to be available in their clash against Arsenal this Sunday.
“I’m available for the manager if he wants to play me,” Lukaku told the press.
Lukaku will be wearing Tammy Abraham's No.9 shirt after he left the club to join AS Roma this summer.
“Maturity has been important. I think I’ve learned much more about myself, setting higher standards for myself,” said the former Manchester United striker.
“As a player, it’s been about becoming more complete as the game in Italy is more different. The spaces are tighter, it’s more technical and tactical, and that helped me a lot. The English game is different but for me, it’s not something new, it’s just getting back here and adapt to my teammates. Whatever the game plan that the coach has, I can adapt myself and help the team.”
With this declaration of determination to help the club reach even greater heights, Belgium’s all-time leading scorer is primed for an explosive return to the English Premier League as they visit Arsenal at Emirates Stadium on Sunday, August 22.
