Russell Wilson Trade Rumors: Raiders, Cowboys Favored Pursuers Of Seahawks QB
Reports that Russell Wilson could potentially be available through a trade are not going away, igniting speculation regarding potential destinations for the Seattle Seahawks' quarterback.
If they decide to move their star QB, early indications are the eight-time Pro Bowler could be headed to one of the NFL’s marquee franchises.
The Las Vegas Raiders are the betting favorites to trade for Wilson, according to BetOnline. The online sportsbook gives Las Vegas +300 odds to acquire Wilson, in the event that he is moved.
The Dallas Cowboys are second on the list of potential suitors. Dallas has +600 odds to be Wilson’s next team.
The Raiders and Cowboys already have Pro Bowl-caliber quarterbacks on their roster, though there is reason to believe both teams might be looking for a new starter in the near future.
Derek Carr has found himself in trade rumors for a few years now, and that speculation has continued in the 2021 offseason. Las Vegas has reportedly received calls from teams about Carr, who is coming off arguably his best NFL season. Carr is under contract for two more seasons.
Dak Prescott currently doesn’t have a contract with the Cowboys, raising questions about his future with the team. Dallas can use the franchise tag on Prescott for two more seasons before he can become a free agent.
Prescott missed most of the 2020 season with an ankle injury while playing under the franchise tag. Before getting hurt, Prescott was on pace to put up record-setting numbers with 1,856 passing yards in six games.
The Raiders missed the playoffs with an 8-8 record, while the Cowboys went 6-10 and were among the league’s most disappointing teams. But they aren't the only teams rumored to be interested in acquiring Wilson's services.
The Jacksonville Jaguars are given +700 odds to trade for Wilson, followed by the Washington Football Team (+800), San Francisco 49ers (+900) and Denver Broncos (+1000).
Wilson remains unlikely to be traded this year. Seattle would incur a massive cap hit by moving Wilson within the next few months, and the quarterback has made the Seahawks a perennial playoff team.
However, Seahawks management is not happy with Wilson’s latest comments, according to Dan Patrick. Wilson said on “The Dan Patrick Show” earlier this week that he has been getting hit too much during games and that he believed teams around the league have been inquiring about his availability.
Wilson, who boasts the second-highest career passer rating (100.3) in NFL history and a 98-45-1 overall record, has started every game for Seattle since 2012.
