  • Account activity for creators in all countries has since been restored, according to OnlyFans

London-based adult subscription service OnlyFans temporarily locked out its Russian and Belarusian content creators from their accounts following Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

Russian OnlyFans content creators were locked out of their accounts over the weekend, and they were unable to access their earnings, the Rolling Stone reported.

OnlyFans confirmed it removed the content creators while payments in Russia and Belarus were limited, according to the Daily Beast.

The restriction on payments was a result of the United States, Canada and the European allies kicking Russia from the Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication (SWIFT), the Belgium-based international banking messaging system that facilitates trillions of dollars of transactions, the company said.

"Unfortunately, due to worldwide financial restrictions that have ensued, we have very limited methods to pay creator accounts linked to Russia and Belarus," an OnlyFans spokesperson explained.

Russian creators were not alerted by OnlyFans that they would not be able to access their funds in advance, according to user Bunnie Mommy. The model and erotic content creator on the platform claimed she lost an estimated $8,000 because her account was frozen.

"In short term, I don’t have money to live... Many models [are] faced with this, nobody thought it could happen. In long term — we all are jobless," Bunnie Mommy said.

An OnlyFans content creator based in the Russian capital of Moscow, SixSexPlanes, claimed her account was also disabled even though she never supported her country's invasion of Ukraine.

"It’s important to say, we all don’t support our government. We’re suffering about it all time and now we’re all just shocked... I have many friends from Ukraine. We are all afraid for them and are watching, we are trying to support, but we do not have the opportunity to change anything," she said.

Ukrainian content creators based in Russia were also locked out from their accounts, with many unable to earn a living for days due to the restrictions.

Account activity has since been restored for creators in all countries, OnlyFans said Sunday evening.

"Their accounts will have full functionalities as long as we continue to have payment methods to support them," a spokesperson said.

"We were not terminating or suspending any creator accounts based on the creator’s location, and we are doing everything we can to support our community," the spokesperson added.

While many creators managed to retrieve their accounts, some were reportedly unable to access theirs, including a Ukrainian creator based in Russia.

Another Russian creator claimed her account was briefly reinstated before receiving an email, saying payments had been limited on her account due to its connection to Russia or Belarus.
