Russian Soldier Reveals Army 'Lost Faith In Victory,' Advises 'Servicemen To Surrender'

A Russian soldier who was captured by Ukrainian forces recently revealed that his country's army no longer believes that Moscow could attain victory in the war following Kyiv's counteroffensive, according to a report.

The 20-year-old Russian grenade operator, who identified himself as Gudkov Daniil Segeyevich, also said that the Russian command is attempting to flee from the battlefield, leaving soldiers to fend for themselves

"During the entire period of staying on Ukraine's territory, I realized: the Russian army has lost faith in victory, and the command is trying to cowardly flee from the battlefield," he said, according to a video published by the Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) on Monday.

Segeyevich said he only survived the war because he surrendered to the Armed Forces of Ukraine and recommended his comrades to do the same.

"We put together a convoy and headed for Shevchenkovo, but we were intercepted and the convoy was burned. I surrendered, but those who did not surrender—they died. Because of this, I advise all Russian servicemen to surrender," the soldier said.

In addition to asking his comrades to lay down their arms, Segeyevich also appealed to the parents of Russian soldiers not to let their children go to war to avoid any unnecessary sacrifices.

Segeyevich served in the 7th Separate Motorized Rifle Regiment of Russia. The unit entered Kharkiv on March 2, less than a week after Russia launched its invasion of Ukraine in February.

The video from the SSU comes as deaths among Russian troops continue to rise amid a counteroffensive operation by the Ukrainian army. While the Kremlin has yet to release an official military death toll, estimates from the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine put the Russian toll at 52,950, with 300 new deaths reported Monday.

Over the past 24 hours, the Ukrainian army reclaimed and liberated more than 20 settlements. In recent days, the Ukrainians also destroyed $673 million worth of Russian war equipment, seized $104 million worth of war machines, and successfully captured territory at least twice the size of Greater London, according to an intelligence report from the British Ministry of Defense.
