Ukraine's armed forces have successfully destroyed a Russian Terminator tank that Luhank's head described to be "almost impossible to be destroyed."
In a Telegram post, Serhii Haidai, head of the Luhansk Oblast Military Administration, said the tank-support fighting vehicle was destroyed near the city of Kreminna. His post included footage of the tank being targeted and bombed and a photo of the aftermath.
"Orcs [i.e., Russians] have recently bragged about their combat tank-support fighting vehicle with the loud name of Terminator on their main propaganda Russia TV. So many beautiful words about a vehicle that is almost impossible to destroy... Almost," Haidai wrote, as translated by Ukrainska Pravda.
"Defenders from Luhansk Oblast have a photo of the same Terminator from the Ruscists' video, the exact vehicle that a propagandist praised and the crew, the commander of which said something about a 'plague.' The woods of Kreminna are terrifying... especially for the true Russian plague," he added.
The incident was also reported by the press service of the command of the Ukrainian Air Assault Forces, which noted that the tank was destroyed by soldiers of the 81st Airmobile Brigade and the 95th Air Assault Brigade. Neither Haidai nor the Ukrainian army disclosed when the tank was destroyed.
The incident marked the first time Ukraine destroyed a Russian Terminator tank. According to an assessment by Defense Express, Moscow has about a dozen Terminator tanks in its fleet.
Russia launched its invasion of Ukraine in February last year. Since then, Moscow has potentially lost up to half of its operational tank fleet, CNN reported, citing data collected by open-source intelligence website Oryx.
The group this week said it has verified that Russia lost 1,000 tanks in the war. In addition, 544 were captured by Ukrainian forces, 79 sustained damages and 65 had been abandoned. The figures do not include Russian losses that Oryx was not able to visually confirm. However, the actual number is estimated to be nearly 2,000 tanks.
Oryx's figures contrast estimates from the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, which put Russia's tank losses at 3,255 as of Thursday.
