  • "Rust" is a multiplayer survival game
  • "Rust Console Edition" is set to release this Friday
  • It will launch in North America and Europe for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 gamers

"Rust Console Edition" is scheduled to release on Xbox and PlayStation gaming consoles in just a few days.

Custom "Rust" servers have become popular among PC gamers. Console players who want to know how to host their private servers could check out this guide.

How to host a private server

Hosting a private server is very easy. Players simply need to create one from the game's main menu. To do so, players have to select Play Rust and navigate to Create A Game option. After that, players can choose between two options for the kind of server they want to host. They could choose either the Standard or the Performance server.

For the uninitiated, hosting a game costs money and every server purchase offers a 30-day uptime. So, to keep the server online, players who intend to host them must pay monthly. A Standard server does not offer a lot of customization compared to a Performance server. When players choose the Performance server, they get a much bigger map.

They also get the ability to modify gathering monuments, multiplier and a lot more. Both Standard and Performance servers offer up to 50 players, allowing gamers to enjoy the game with their friends on either of the server types.

Game developer Double Eleven has not yet revealed the price of the Standard and Performance servers.

Other details

Private servers are not yet available in "Rust Console Edition." However, the game developer says the host a game feature will be introduced soon. Initially, the developer was planning to make custom servers available at the game's launch. But it looks like they have been delayed.

Double Eleven said, "For the community servers our aim was to have them ready on release but we want to make sure players get a fair deal as well as the best possible quality for the service, for this reason we are still considering all of our available options and we should have more information to share about it in the following weeks/months."

"Rust Console Edition" is set to release in North America and Europe this Friday. The game was initially released in December 2013 and was only available on PC.
