Samsung Debuts Cinema LED Screen With Superb Picture Quality, True-To-Life Audio
Samsung Electronics is really pushing the boundaries of display innovation. The South Korea tech giant has just debuted the world’s first LED display for movie theaters. The cinema screen it developed does not only offer superb picture quality, it also boasts of true-to-life audio thanks to JBL by HARMAN’s audio solution.
On Thursday, Samsung proudly announced on its online newsroom that it has installed the world’s first commercial LED display for movie theaters called Cinema LED Screen. The company installed its new product in Seoul-based movie house Lotte Cinema World Tower. According to Apple’s biggest rival, its massive display is designed as a High Dynamic Range (HDR) LED theater screen, so it is guaranteed to provide a stellar viewing experience.
Samsung’s 10.3 meters-wide Cinema LED Screen has ultra-sharp 4K resolution (4,096 x 2,160), so picture quality is without a doubt top-notched. For comparison, this new product’s peak brightness levels are nearly 10 times greater than what standard projector technologies offer. The very big screen also offers superior levels of technical performance, so everyone can expect it to showcase the brightest colors and deepest blacks, as well as the most spotless whites.

The team-up has led to the inclusion of ultra-powerful speakers bordering the massive display. The speakers also come with JBL’s Sculpted Surround system and proprietary audio processing technology so sound experience inside the movie theater is unparalleled.
“Through sharper and more realistic colors, complementary audio and an elevated presentation, our Cinema LED Screen makes viewers feel as if they are part of the picture,” Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics President HS Kim said. “We are excited to partner with Lotte Cinema to bring this technology to theater-goers, and look forward to continuing to shape the cinema of the future.”
“‘SUPER S’ theater is a new paradigm of movie screening,” Lotte Cinema CEO Wonchun Cha said of the specific theater where Samsung’s first Cinema LED Screen was installed. “We look forward to working with Samsung to introduce new, high-quality technology to the movie industry in the future, and we are excited to drive customer satisfaction through an improved viewing environment that brings a variety of content to life.”
