Samsung Galaxy Fold, Huawei Mate X, Motorola Razr Prices Leaked
A Korean tech news site has leaked some important information regarding three of the most anticipated foldable smartphones that are expected for release soon.
According to Korean site The Elec, Samsung, Huawei and Motorola are going to clash against each other in the second half of 2019 when they each release their foldable smartphone offerings to the public.
Galaxy Fold
Samsung’s Galaxy Fold, which was originally scheduled for release in April, might be released sometime in September. “Industry sources” told the news site that a smartphone that folds inwardly will be released on Sept. 18. The report didn’t explicitly say that it will be the redesigned Galaxy Fold, but merely hinted at it.
The Galaxy Fold is expected to be sold between 2.3 million and 2.5 million won. Converted to U.S. dollars as of writing time, the expected selling price rests between $1,894.02 and $2,058.71. It was initially pegged at $1,980 in the U.S. in April.
The Korean tech giant’s first mainstream foldable smartphone is said to feature a 7.3-inch display when unfolded, and a 4.6-inch display when folded. It features six cameras: Three cameras at the back, two cameras inside when the device is unfolded, and one camera in front for when the device is folded.
Mate X
Huawei’s Mate X, on the other hand, features an outward-folding design. The Chinese tech company was unable to release it in the U.S. the tech giant was banned. This foldable device, which features an 8-inch display when unfolded, will likely be sold for 2,299 euros. As of writing time, the amount translates to $2,571.66 USD.
The Chinese tech company’s offering features an 8-inch unfolded display. The device is also thinner than the Galaxy Fold, and features three cameras at the back. It is, however, heavier than the Korean company’s device, and is more expensive.
Moto Razr
Motorola’s Razr smartphone is also expected to be released within the year. This device, believed to feature a 6.2-inch display, folds inward like a clamshell, reminiscent of the beloved phone that made big waves more than a decade ago. It is expected to feature a small outer display that will notify users of messages and other things when the device is folded and not in use.
The new Razr is believed to fetch a selling price of about $1,500. Its release date is still unknown at the moment.
