Samsung Galaxy Fold’s Main Problem Is Performance, And Here’s Why
Samsung is currently developing the Galaxy Fold as their entry to the foldable display device race. While it seems like Samsung has started strong in this race with their device already in development, a performance problem has reportedly been “found” in this new device. Here’s what we know about the Samsung Galaxy Fold’s performance problem.
According to GeekBench’s tests, the Galaxy Fold is said to only have a multi-core score of 9,703 and single-core score of 3,418. While these are high scores compared to that of other devices, the Galaxy Fold doesn’t seem to utilize its better hardware with this output.
Both scores are considered underwhelming as Samsung is using their top-of-the-line hardware and yet could still be beaten by smartphones already out in the market. In comparison, the Apple iPhone Xr with A12 Bionic chipset got a score of 4,794 and 11,215 in the single-core and multi-core tests, respectively.
According to the list, the iPhone XS Max A12, Huawei Mate 20 and even Samsung’s own Galaxy S10+ are all better than this new device when it comes to both single-core and multi-core scores. At best, the upcoming smartphone wouldn’t be worthy as an upgrade choice due to its specs.
Moreover, the upcoming Galaxy Fold costs around $2,000, an amount that could allow consumers to buy two stronger devices.
However, GeekBench’s sources weren’t stated and could possibly be unconfirmed insider information. We’ll have to wait for Samsung to confirm how exactly this new foldable display device will perform.
As of now, Samsung is still developing the Samsung Galaxy Fold device. As one of the leading smartphone developers, Samsung is expected to deliver one of the best iterations of the foldable display device.
While Royole was the first to release this type of device with the FlexPai, their phone was considered subpar by many reviewers when it comes to performance even though the device does fold.
Aside from Samsung, Huawei is also developing their own foldable display phone, while other smartphone developers are also planning out their device for this trend.
However, Samsung’s rival, Apple, has yet to announce their own device, which has surprised some fans due to the lack of development and worried others over the company’s future.
