Samsung Galaxy S3 Release: One Rumored Feature Significantly Different From The S2 [Report]
A new report from a Korean Digital Daily says the Samsung Galaxy S3 will have one significantly different feature to its predecessor: A physical home button.
The Korean Digital Daily reported that the phone, which is rumored to be in production, will come with the usual home button that is featured on other Samsung devices, including the Galaxy Note.
Samsung is yet to make an official announcement about its next generation Galaxy tablet, but it seems the release of the Galaxy Note has been overshadowed by Samsung S3 rumors.
The evolution in S2 is already here, it's there, it's Galaxy Note and that is a really strong device for Samsung, globally as well as in the UK, Simon Stanford, VP of Samsung Telecommunications and Networks for Samsung UK and Ireland told CNET in an exclusive interview.
People don't have to have a tablet and smart phone -- it can be done all in one device -- which is exactly what people are using it for, Stanford added.
Samsung enthusiasts don't seem to be convinced that the Galaxy Note is the sequel to the S2 and are continuing to churn out rumors as a result.
The S2 was unveiled at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) last year, and then launched in April, which spurred rumors that the S3 would be out at the same time. But Samsung has said that Galaxy enthusiasts shouldn't hold their breath for a March release, as the phone is likely to come in the middle of the year, closer to the summer, according to a report obtained by News Sizzle.
The success of the S2 is said to be one of the biggest reasons behind the S3's delay; however, experts in the industry say the delay has also been caused by the slow roll out of the Ice Cream Sandwich software on the S2.
We haven't confirmed any successor to the S2. The S2 is a very, very popular device. It's the number one selling Android device in the UK and has been now for coming up to a year... Whatever the [actual] successor to the Galaxy S2 is will only help develop that further, Stanford told CNET.
Any successor to the S2 we will announce at a separate Samsung event when it's nearer commercial release -- if [there is any successor], he adds.
The most recent release date rumors point to a May 22 release in London. The rumors stemmed from what appeared to be an official Samsung press invitation that leaked last week. It included an image of sleek metal case that tampers and bends backwards.
