Samsung Galaxy S3 Release & Rumors: Video Shows How Easily Design Photos Can be Faked
The delayed release of the Samsung Galaxy S3 has increased consumer appetite for rumors, but a video showing how easy it is to draw up a fake concept design of the phone emphasizes just how much the rumored features and specs should be taken with a pinch of salt.
WJD Designs has created a step-by-step video walkthrough of a fake Galaxy S3 render using popular rumors and Photoshop.
The photo doesn't look much different from the alleged leaked photos we are used to seeing on Galaxy S3 rumors sites and forums.
The most recent leaked photo was posted on Reddit by an apparent Samsung employee and it set off a whole host of rumors regarding the phone's features and specs.
There is nothing about the photo that distinguished itself from a generic Android smartphone, but because the photo was taken poorly--exhibiting a flash glare-people presumed it was taken in a rush by someone who was not permitted to do so.
Samsung is yet to announce the phone's release date and previous rumors about the phone's launch have been proven false.
The phones predecessor--the Galaxy S2--was unveiled at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) last year, and then launched in April, which spurred rumors that the S3 would be out at the same time. But Samsung has said that Galaxy enthusiasts shouldn't hold their breath for a March release, as the phone is likely to come in the middle of the year, closer to the summer, according to a report obtained by News Sizzle.
Since the Galaxy S2 won the Best Phone award at the MWC 2012, more buzz has surrounded the S3. New information obtained by Boy Genius suggests the new generation of Galaxy S will be running a 1.5GHz quad-core Samsung Exynos processor. Boy Genius' site also claims the phone will come with 4G LTE and have a 4.8- inch screen with full HD 1080p resolution.
Here is a roundup of the latest rumored features:
Processor: The S3 is expected to boast an Exynos 4412 chipset with a quad-core unit, which will apparently be clocked at 1.5GHz. The phone is guaranteed to arrive with the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system.
Display: The S3 is expected to come with a larger screen than that of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, nearer to the 5-inch scale. It is rumored to have an AMOLED plus screen with 1280x720 resolution. If the phone comes with a S5K2P1 chip, it will be able to capture 60fps HD video and 8.3 megapixel images.
Other rumored specs:
- 5″ 1280×720 Super AMOLED Plus display
- 9mm thick body
- 8 megapixel main camera with LED and Xenon flash
- 2 megapixel front-facing camera
- 32 or 64 GB of internal memory
