Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom Unveiled With 16-Megapixel Camera, 10x Optical Zoom And Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean

Samsung announced the rumored Galaxy S4 Zoom on Wednesday, a device that combines the stylish design of the latest Galaxy S4 smartphone with much improved photographic capabilities.

Samsung has unveiled Galaxy S4 Zoom at a time when the company’s “Samsung Premiere 2013” event, scheduled for June 20, is just over a week away. According to Samsung, Galaxy S4 Zoom is the result of the company’s aim to create a single device that can fulfill the role of both a smartphone and a high-end compact camera.

“As communication continues to become increasingly visual in nature, people wish to capture and share their moments in the highest quality possible, but often do not have the space or inclination to carry a dedicated camera for this purpose,” JK Shin, President and CEO, Head of IT & Mobile Communications Division at Samsung Electronics said.

“The Galaxy S4 zoom changes this forever, combining the industry leading functionality and connectivity of the Galaxy S4 with the high quality photographic experience you’d expect from a compact camera.”

From a camera perspective, Galaxy S4 Zoom features a 16-megapixel camera with 10x optical zoom, Optical Image Stabilization, or OIS, a xenon flash, 4fps burst mode (with auto focus) and ISO support up to 3200.

In terms of being a smartphone, Galaxy S4 Zoom resembles the Galaxy S4 Mini a lot. The S4 Zoom sports a 4.3-inch qHD (540x960) sAMOLED display, a 1.5GHz dual core Exynos 4212 processor, 1.5GB RAM, 8GB internal storage that can be extended up to 64GB using microSD cards, a 2330mAh battery and connectivity options including Bluetooth 4.0 (LE), NFC, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n and A-GPS.

Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom has Touch-Wiz Nature UX interface and Android 4.2 Jelly Bean out-of-the-box and supports all major 2G, 3G and LTE networks with "up to six different band sets."
