The electric blue Galaxy S5 model will finally make its way to the U.S. on Aug. 17. Best Buy (NYSE: BBY) has announced that it will offer the blue Galaxy S5 exclusively.
Customers will be able to purchase the device for AT&T (NYSE: T), Verizon (NYSE: VZ) and Sprint (NYSE: S) plans for a discounted contract price of $99; this introductory price will be available until Aug. 23, then the Galaxy S5 will go back to its usual $199 contract price.
The electric blue Galaxy S5 is also available on the networks’ monthly installment billing plans, AT&T Next, Verizon Edge or Sprint Easy Pay, which allow customers to get their handsets for $0 down and pay them off over 20-24 months. Best Buy is offering a $100 gift card to customers who use the monthly installment option.
The Samsung Galaxy S5 originally released in April. The device is also available in black, white and copper-gold color options. Samsung opted for a “modern glam” look on the Galaxy S5 with a perforated back panel, which is intended to introduce texture into the handling of the new model. In addition to the updated design and new color variants, Samsung has outfitted the Galaxy S5 with an Ingress Protection Rating of IP67. This means that the Galaxy S5 is not only dustproof, but waterproof for up to 30 minutes in up to one meter of water.
