Though the Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge were released Friday, some models are still not yet available in retail stores. Customers may have trouble finding the gold Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 at bricks and mortar locations for some time.
We reached out to some of the major carriers to confirm whether any gold Galaxy S6 or Galaxy S6 Edge models would be available on launch day; here’s what they said.
Sprint is currently offering gold Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 models in stores, a Sprint representative confirmed. Availability will vary by sales channel and store.
T-Mobile and Verizon are not currently offering the gold Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 models in stores, due to availability and popularity, representatives confirmed.
AT&T did not respond to our inquiry by the time of publishing. U.S. Cellular is not offering the gold Samsung Galaxy S6 or Galaxy S6 Edge.
What Can You Do?
Luckily, the gold Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge will become available in the coming weeks and months. Customers can preorder the devices online. Currently most carriers and retailers are selling at least the 64GB storage option of the gold Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge online. However, depending on availability, some models may not ship until they become available.
Customers can also preorder the device in store. The store will reach out once the device becomes available.
Customers can also select another color of the Galaxy S6 or Galaxy S6 Edge. Black and white color options are more readily available in stores.
Finally, customers can opt for an unlocked model of the Galaxy S6 or Galaxy S6 Edge. Retailers including Amazon, eBay, Expansys, Newegg are selling the devices online. Handsets will ship in between two and 10 days.
