Samsung Galaxy S7 Android Nougat Update: How To Download the Update Rolling Out Next Week
Months have passed since the Android Nougat launch, but official Android Nougat updates are still hard to find. Apart from some Google devices, the update has yet to roll out within the Android ecosystem.
When it does, flagship devices such as the Samsung Galaxy S7 should be the first in line.
Samsung is finally expected to put out an Android Nougat update for its Galaxy S7 and S7 edge devices on Jan. 17, according to a leaked screenshot, which indicated that the update might hit European S7 devices on that date.
Android Nougat comes with new features such as a multi-window mode, direct replies to notifications, increased battery efficiency and a doze mode, apart from general performance improvements.
Before you download the update, it is advisable to back up your device. While the upcoming build should be a stable one, there are always chances that things go wrong with your device and you might risk losing your data. Having a backup will help you revert your phone to previous Android version easily too.
To do so, you will need to enable your device’s built-in backup feature. You will need to navigate to Settings> Backup & Reset and check both ‘Backup My Data’ and ‘Automatic Restore’.
To backup your photos, connect your Android device to PC via USB and then copy the contents of the folder.
Then, you will need to check for the update. If you don’t get a notification about the availability of the update, then you will need to look for it manually.
To do so, you will need to navigate to the About Phone option in settings and select ‘software update’.
Once you have done so, all you will need to do is download and install the update. But, you need to take care that your internet connection is not interrupted and that your phone is at least 80 percent charged before you install the update.
It will be advisable to put your phone one charge, so that the battery does not die midway through the process.
Once you are done installing the update, simply restart the device and you will have your Android Nougat-ready Samsung Galaxy S7.
