Samsung Galaxy S8, S8 Plus Get FCC-Certified: Are The Smartphones Launching Soon?

Samsung is all set to launch its flagship device for 2017, the Galaxy S8 either by March-end of the begining of April, as confirmed by a Federal Communications Commission listing Wednesday.

As per the listing, the Galaxy S8 will be a 5.8-inch device and the Galaxy S8 Plus will be a 6.2-inch display. The listing mentions the unlocked models of the devices will be available with AT&T, Sprint, Verizon and T-Mobile.

The Samsung Galaxy S8 will come with the model number SM-G950U, while the Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus comes with the model SM-955U.

Two launch dates have been rumored for the devices — they could either launch on March 29 in New York City or on April 28.

Going by the listing, the Samsung Galaxy S8 is expected to come with a Super AMOLED display with a 1440 x 2560p resolution. Under the hood, it is expected to have 4GB RAM and a 10nm technology based Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor. Samsung will also offer an Exynos 8895 version of the same processor. Both processors will be an improvement on the 14nm technology based existing processors. In terms of onboard memory, Samsung is expected to offer a 64GB base version, a 128GB version and a 256GB version of the device. In terms of the camera, the device is expected to come with a 12-megapixel rear camera and an 8-megapixel front camera featuring autofocus and low-light features. A 3,000 mAh battery is expected to power the device.

The Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus is expected to have most of the same specs, but it will feature a larger display and a 3,500 mAh battery. Both devices are expected to come with Android 7.1 out-of-the-box.

The Samsung Galaxy S8 is expected to revive Samsung’s fortunes, especially after the disastrous 2016 Samsung Galaxy Note 7 fiasco.
