Samsung Galaxy S8 Update: Apple Rival Not Following ‘No Headphone Jack’ Revolution For Upcoming Galaxy S7 Successor
Ever since the Galaxy Note 7 was scrapped late last year, everyone’s attention has been diverted toward Samsung’s Galaxy S series. The Galaxy S7 is turning 1-year-old soon, and this could only mean one thing: its successor is going to debut soon.
There have been many unconfirmed rumors and speculations about the Galaxy S8’s specs and features, but Samsung chooses to remain mum while secretly working on its next flagship device. This Thursday, a new leak surfaced online and it is claiming that Samsung will not be following in the footsteps of its biggest rival, Apple.
The new leak refers to the renders of what seems to be a protective case for the Galaxy S8. Based on the look of this phone accessory, the S7 successor could still launch with the traditional 3.5mm headphone jack, according to TechRadar. Previous reports and speculations have claimed that Samsung is going to ditch the headphone jack after Apple removed the feature from its iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus models.
Of course, there is still a big possibility that Samsung may have really removed the jack from its flagship smartphone. After all. there is still no official confirmation from the company that the leaked renders indeed belonged to an upcoming Galaxy S8 accessory.
Apart from the headphone jack, another physical feature that will not be present on the smartphone is the home button. Since rumors about the S8 began late last year, several sources have come out to say that the handset is going to sport a dual-edged all-glass front sans the physical home key. Without the home button, the fingerprint scanner will have to be embedded into the glass display, according to PocketNow.
Samsung is expected to unveil the Galaxy S8 flagship handset at the Mobile World Congress in February. Once the device is made official, it will be available in the market in April provided no production delays will take place.
