Samsung Unveils New Mid-Range Phones With Premium Specs
Following the unveiling of the mid-range Galaxy A80 and A70, Samsung has also unveiled two more mid-rangers, the Galaxy A60 and A40s. These new mid-range models belong to the mid-range category, but boast of higher-end specs. Both are going to be sold in China.
Galaxy A60
The Galaxy A60 looks like the Galaxy A8s released in China last year, according to Phone Radar. It features the same form factor, complete with the punch hole located at the top left-hand side of the screen, but boasts of better specs than the older model.
The Galaxy A60 has a 6.3-inch LCD Infinity-O display boasting FHD+ resolution and 92 percent screen-to-body ratio. The selfie camera, located at the punch hole, is a 32MP snapper. At the back is a triple-array camera with a 32MP f/1.7 main sensor, a secondary 8MP f/2.2 ultrawide lens, and a 5MP depth sensor.
Interested parties will notice that the phone doesn’t have a speaker grille anywhere in front. This is because the A60 uses Samsung’s Screen Cast technology, which uses the whole display area as a loudspeaker. This technology is similar to the one LG applied in the LG G8 ThinQ smartphone, GSM Arena noted.
A Snapdragon 675 powers the A60, along with 6GB memory and 128GB storage. It has a 3,500 mAh battery that can be charged using a type-C connector.
Galaxy A40s
The Galaxy A40s, on the other hand, is a rebranded M30, which is available in India. This could mean the Korean tech giant won’t bring the M30 to Chinese consumers.
The Galaxy A40s has a slightly larger 6.4-inch Super AMOLED Infinity-U display with FHD+ resolution. It has a waterdrop notch housing a 16MP selfie camera. It features a weaker triple-camera setup at the back: a 13MP f/1.9 main sensor, 5MP f/2.2 ultrawide lens, and a 5MP depth sensor.
An Exynos 7904 SoC powers the Galaxy A40s, along with 6GB memory and 64GB of storage space. It has a huge 5,000 mAh battery, and boasts of fast-charging support using a 15W charger.
Pricing
As mid-range phones, these will be sold relatively at lower prices compared to most top-tier models available. The A60 will be sold for CNY 1,999 (about $300), while the A40s will be sold for CNY 1,499 ($225). Although these phones have exciting price points, it remains to be seen they will make it to western shores, Phone Arena reported.
