'Samurai Shodown' Demo Version 2: How To Play Before Game's June Release
SNK’s latest “Samurai Shodown” will have another public beta where players can fight each other. This time, a different set of characters will be playable for this beta. The beta will be available for all users to download and is still playable as of now.
The beta can be found on the PlayStation Store along with the first demo. The game’s size is around 5.59 GB which is around the normal size for any fighting game released in this console generation. It’s also available for players who aren’t subscribed to PS plus.
For a demo, the game’s content seems to be complete for offline play. Players can start learning the game through Tutorial Mode and Training Mode as it’s available for this beta. Players can try out one of three characters’ moves before they set out and start fighting.
The available characters for this set of beta are Kibagami Genjuro, Tachibana Ukyo and Charlotte. Genjuro is known to be the rival of the main character, Haohmaru. Ukyo is a samurai known for his quick attacks but is sickly and stricken with a lung illness. Lastly, Charlotte is a fencer character in contrast to cast of mostly samurai.
Once they’ve picked and studied a character or just want to try to samurai fighting game, players can head over to the Versus mode. The demo allows players to fight CPU when playing solo or go for player-vs-player if they have a friend with them.
Compared to other fighting games, SNK’s “Samurai Shodown” requires players to understand the lengths of their weapons and the risk of putting out their attacks. Missing attacks leaves larger opening in this game and leaves them open for a high-damaging heavy slash.
Getting hit with heavy swing in this game is akin to like a real swordfight where a clean, strong hit will leave characters reeling from the impact and loss of blood. Overall, the game promises intense grounded play, similar to Capcom’s "Street Fighter" and SNK’s "King of Fighters" series, but with more attack range.
The beta will be playable up to July 7 and the official “Samurai Shodown” will be released on June 25. Buying the game within its release week will receive a free season pass worth of four DLC characters.
