SantaCon 2015: Routes, Rules For New York City, San Francisco And Hoboken
Get your red suits ready, Santa Clones, it’s that time of year again. SantaCon is almost underway, which means thousands of St. Nicholas impersonators will hit the streets to drink their faces off in an epic pub crawl.
The rules for SantaCon are pretty lengthy — 25 in total — but the overall gist is not to get drunk and ruin the fun for everyone. Santas are encouraged to participate by wearing full Santa ensembles — not just hats. Revelers can also dress as elves, reindeers or anything jolly that fits the holiday theme.
Now that the “who” and “what” has been established, it’s time to get to the “when” and “where.” Routes and maps for New York City, San Francisco and information for Hoboken have been provided below:
New York City
When: Dec. 12, 2015
Where: The route isn’t revealed until the night before, but Gothamist predicted it will start at Greenpoint's McCarren Park at 10 a.m. EST. It will continue through Williamsburg and into the Lower East Side and East Village, where most of the convention will take place. SantaCon will last until 7 p.m. EST.
Important note: The Long Island Rail Road will not allow alcohol on trains from 11 p.m. Friday until noon Sunday because of the convention. Plan accordingly.
San Francisco
When: Dec. 12, 2015
Where: Someone spread naughty rumors that SantaCon in this area was canceled, but it was all a misunderstanding. SantaCon will begin at noon in Union Square. Participants are encouraged to bring a new, unwrapped toy for the San Francisco Fire Department's toy drive.
Hoboken:
When: Dec. 19, 2015
Where: A direct route has not been set for Hoboken, but there are a few bars that will offer drink specials. Check out their Facebook page for the full list of bars. For those who are doing SantaCon in Hoboken for the first time, tickets can be purchased through EventBrite.com.
