Sarah Ferguson Forced To Downgrade 50th Birthday Party To Dinner For This Reason

Sarah Ferguson planned a lavish birthday celebration to commemorate her 50^th birthday 10 years ago. But she was forced to downgrade the party to an intimate dinner with only her closest family and friends.

According to Express, Fergie’s bash had already been planned early on, and she also invited approximately 300 guests. But due to the escalating cash crisis at that time, it would have caused major controversy on her part and the royal family if her big celebration would push through.

Royal expert Camilla Tominey revealed that Prince Andrew’s ex-wife’s party was supposed to take place at the Royal Lodge, where they are both residing in.

“With four creditors having already issued legal demands for unpaid bills and more queuing up at her door, friends close to the Duchess say she is near breaking point. Fergie’s debts are thought to amount to hundreds and thousands of pounds following the closure of her US lifestyle company Hart moor, with an estimated £630,000 debts,” Tominey said.

The royal expert also dubbed the incident as a déjà vu for the former royal because she also experienced money problems after her divorce from Prince Andrew. After 10 years of marriage, the couple announced their decision to go their separate ways in 1996.

During that time, Tominey said that Ferguson was running on a £4 million overdraft even if she received a generous settlement from the royal family. Following their divorce, the Duchess of York struggled to change her lifestyle. She continued to hire 10 staff, and she was still chauffeured around in her Bentley.

“She favors expensive London restaurants such as China Tang, where a whole suckling pig is on the menu for £150. While she has been known to splash out £50,000 on a dozen dresses by Danish designer Isabell Kristensen, big-hearted Fergie also splurges on friends,” Tominey said.

Meanwhile, Ferguson will be turning 60 years old on Tuesday, Oct. 15. According to Royal Central editor Charlie Proctor, the mom of two will most likely be celebrating her day with Prince Andrew and their two daughters.
