Sarah Ferguson Forced To ‘Save Her Life’ After Being ‘Killed’ By Royal Household
Sarah Ferguson and Prince Andrew discussed their separation much earlier than the public thought.
In 1992, three of Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip’s four children announced their separation. After Princess Anne divorced Captain Mark Phillips and Prince Charles and Princess Diana’s marriage troubles made headlines, Fergie and Prince Andrew felt that they didn’t want to be left out.
“Not one to be left out, I’d had my own bit to contribute. From early on that year, Andrew and I had been discussing a separation… Not because we’d stopped caring about each other, but because I had reached the end of the royal rope,” she said.
In the same year, the Duchess of York started feeling the pressure of the palace and the royal family. As such, she felt the need to break away from it all even though she still had so much love for the Duke of York.
“For six years, I had shouldered the demands of palace life. I’d endured the constant scrutiny of the British press and the barely veiled hostility of the royal household, the courtiers who run the show… Gradually, relentlessly, they had beaten me down… It was time to save my life,” she said.
The mom of two had to suffer through a further trial in 1992, and things became much worse after she was accused of leaking her separation to the press. The Queen was reportedly infuriated with by the leak, and it also affected her financial negotiations during the divorce.
But despite the Duke and Duchess of York’s divorce, the couple maintained an amicable relationship with each other. Until today, Fergie and Prince Andrew are friends. Every now and then, they also step out in public together.
Just recently, reports swirled that Ferguson joined Prince Andrew and their daughters to Balmoral to spend a few days with the Queen. This outing proved that the monarch has already forgiven Fergie.
