Sarah Hyland Shares Video Of Jesse Tyler Ferguson Officiating Her Wedding [Watch]
Sarah Hyland, who got married to Wells Adams in August, shared a video of her "Modern Family" co-star Jesse Tyler Ferguson officiating her wedding.
In the video shared on Instagram on Sunday, the 47-year-old actor called the marriage "the final rose ceremony" as he started officiating the wedding.
"Above you are the stars and below you is the earth," Ferguson said. "Like the earth, should your love be a firm foundation that grows stronger through the seasons. Like a star, should your love be a constant source of light."
He added, "Like a flame, should your union be lit with passion and love in your hearts. Like the wind, may you sail through life safe and calm. Like water, may your relationship contain the rushing excitement of a raging river and a comment as deep as the ocean itself."
In the end, the actor jokingly said, "I felt like Gandalf right there, or like Dumbledore."
The remark made everyone laugh including Hyland and Adams.
"To be married by @jessetyler was a dream and a privilege," Hyland captioned the video. "Jesse, you have been such an amazing friend, mentor, and an integral part of our lives. So happy birthday to the best officiant of all time! Our wedding truly would not have been as special without you."
Originally, actor Ty Burrell -- who played Hyland's father on-screen in the popular TV series "Modern Family" -- was supposed to officiate the wedding. However, due to some personal emergency, he couldn't attend the ceremony and Ferguson replaced him.
"I don't know if people know this, but Ty Burrell was meant to do it, and there was a family emergency," Ferguson told ET in August. "So, I got a phone call 12 days before the wedding, and that's why Ty wasn't there, he had stuff going on."
Hyland and Adams began dating in 2016, and celebrated their first Halloween together in 2017. Adams confirmed their relationship via a podcast in November 2017. Hyland and Adams went to Catalina Island together to celebrate the actress' 27th birthday in the same month.
The couple moved in together in July 2018 and in October, the same year, they celebrated their first dating anniversary. They got engaged in July 2019, and had plans to get married in August 2020, but postponed the ceremony due to COVID-19. After two years of wait, they finally got married in California in August.
