New “Scandal” Season 6, episode 2 photos have just been released by ABC online, and the teaser pics confirmed Mellie’s (Bellamy Young) reunion with Marcus (Cornelius Smith Jr.).

In the final episodes of “Scandal” Season 5, Mellie and Marcus shared a connection with each other. While Mellie was stressing over her campaign, he was there to help calm her down. During one of their conversations, Mellie and Marcus almost kissed, but they stopped themselves going through with it, though it was obvious that both of them wanted to the other to make a move.

In the new photos from “Hardball,” Mellie and Marcus will have a heated conversation with each other. Mellie’s hand gesture suggests that she’s pissed off. In contrast, Marcus looks calm in the snap.

Another photo shows Mellie and Marcus talking to two unknown guest stars. Everyone has a concerned look on their faces. When the two characters leave, Mellie and Marcus will be left alone in the room. In one of the pics, Mellie is already smiling while talking to Marcus, but the latter still looks upset.

It is still unclear whether or not Mellie and Marcus will become a couple in “Scandal” Season 6, but Young previously told TV Line that she thinks her character is ready to fall in love again. “She’s finally free again, really starting to get well, and I think she would love someone to share all of this with. She really deserves someone who reciprocates those feelings, and how wonderful would it be for both of her dreams to come true – to be in love and in the Oval office?” she said.

But Mellie’s fate as the next president of the United States hasn’t been sealed. In “Survival of the Fittest,” the shocking result of the elections could send her and Olivia Pope (Kerry Washington) on a frenzy.

“Scandal” Season 6 will premiere on ABC on Jan. 26 at 9 p.m. EST.
