'Schitt's Creek' Rosebud Motel is Up For Sale, Here's How To Buy
“Schitt’s Creek” fans know that the Rosebud Motel is the main setting of the entire TV series, and now they have a chance to purchase it for themselves.
The motel is located in Mono, Ontario, which is just northwest of Toronto, and is actually called the Hockley Hotel. It was once used to house Canadian basketball recruits before it became the fictional setting for the sitcom, Deadline reported.
Interested buyers should know that while the exterior of the hotel was used in the series, the interior wasn’t. Instead, those shots were filmed in studios near Toronto. The town where many of the iconic scenes were shot, like Bob's Garage and Rose Apothecary, is actually in nearby Goodwood, Ontario.
The Hockley Hotel sits on 6.7 acres and features 4,300 square feet with 10 guest rooms, including one manager's suite that has two stories with three bedrooms and one bath. There's also a guest cottage that has a barn.
The property is up for sale at $2 million CAD, which is $1.6 million USD, according to the listing. The listing is expected to see widespread interest from investors looking to buy it, and from fans hoping to stay at the hotel.
The hotel is also surrounded by the Hockley Valley Provincial Nature Preserve and the Nottawasaga River, which serves as a fishing hot spot for rainbow trout and salmon. The abundant fishing opportunities are also strong selling points for the establishment.
Jesse Tipping, the current owner who purchased the property in 2012, envisions the next owner turning it into a “Schitt’s Creek” themed motel.
