Ben & Jerry's latest icecream flavor may not exactly be something you would be looking forward to, had it not been a tribute to the famous skit on Saturday Night Live featuring Alec Baldwin. Schweddy Balls, a vanilla icecream with a dash of rum, is named after the skit in which host Alec Baldwin plays Pete Schweddy, owner of a holiday bakery called Season's Eatings. Molly Shannon and Ana Gasteyer play NPR radio hosts interviewing him for a culinary show, during which Schweddy says, There are lots of great treats this time of year. Zucchini bread. Fruitcake. But the thing I most like to bring out at this time of the year are my balls.

After hanging on to the pun jokes for a while, talking about popcorn balls, cheese balls, rum balls, Baldwin declares No one can resist my Schweddy Balls.

The name is irreverent, Ben & Jerry's spokesman Sean Greenwood was quoted by Time. But we've always been about having some irreverence and having some fun ... We're not trying to offend people. Our fans get the humor.

Though Ben & Jerry's icecreams are known for sparking controversy, including the special edition of Chubby Hubby called Hubby Hubby, which celebrated gay marriage, Schweddy Balls seems to be loaded with cheekiness.
