Scott Storch Arrested for Cocaine: How Did the Busted Hip-Hop Producer Squander $30 Million in 3 Years?

Scott Storch, the hip-hop producer who squandered away his millions on drugs, partying and bling, was arrested for cocaine in a Las Vegas hotel earlier this month.

TMZ learned Thursday that Storch, who has worked with stars like Beyonce, 50 Cent and Chris Brown, was arrested at the Cosmopolitan Hotel in Vegas on Feb. 4.

According to the report, hotel security tipped the cops about the illegal drugs. The producer tried to hide a baggy filled with 2.7 grams of coke before police arrived.

The 38-year-old music producer is infamous for filing for bankruptcy in 2006 after becoming addicted to cocaine and blowing his $30 million fortune in just three years. He went to rehab in 2006 and is now trying to rebuild his career with Chris Brown. Storch produced the hip hop star's hit single Run It in 2005.

Storch's manager Derek Jackson, who discovered Storch while he was a keyboardist for the Roots in 1992, called his rise and fall historical.

[It was] unlike anything I've ever see in my entire life, Jackson told MTV News in 2009, according to GossipOnThis.com. Historical! It was historical without questions. ... Honestly about three years ago [in 2006], he got really shady.

Storch's addiction went out of control during one of the most successful periods of his career. He had produced a number of hits and broke chart records, including Fat Joe's Make it Rain and Paris Hilton's Turn It Up. Storch also won ASCAP's Songwriter of the year award.

Then Jackson said Storch took his first real vactation, got hooked on drugs and stopped caring about producing records.

He ran into the Hollywood class--and when he went to Hollywood, all things changed, Jackson said.

Storch said it wasn't cocaine itself he spent all his money on, but it was the poor decision I made, that were so poor financially, that caused me to go into this situation where I was forced to change my lifestyle.

That included about having 15 to 20 half-million-dollar cars at a time, a 117-foot boat, private jets and a mansion in Miami, Fla. Storch said his father had also gone bankrupt from living beyond his means.

With Jackson's help, Storch had a short stint in rehab in April 2009. He had reportedly recovered from his addiction, according to MTV News.

Since then, he has been arrested on grand theft auto charges in 2009 after owners of a Bentley he leased claimed Storch did not comply to the terms of the agreement.

When TMZ ran into him over the weekend, he had acted like the arrest had never happened. It's unclear if Storch has actually fallen back into his old habits.
