Detective Cornell (Juliette Lewis) has a new murder suspect on her hands in “Secrets and Lies” Season 2. “Bates Motel” alum Kenny Johnson” is the latest actor to join the cast … and he’ll find himself in some serious trouble with the hard as nails cop.

As we previously reported, the sophomore installment will be exploring a whole new murder investigation. While Lewis will reprise her role as Det. Cornell, fans will be saying goodbye to the twisted Crawford family and welcoming the Warner’s on screen.

Eric Warner (Michael Ealy) is a “well-educated newlywed and heir apparent to his family’s private equity firm.” And his wife, Kate (Jordana Brewster) … is dead.

That’s right, Det. Cornell will be investigating the death of Eric’s new bride. But Eric might make out a little easier than suspect Ben Crawford (Ryan Phillippe) in Season 1. The reason? He’s got an alibi for the night his wife was murdered!

So, how does Kenny Johnson fit into the picture? TVLine reports that Johnson will be playing a man named Danny – and poor Danny becomes a possible suspect in the murder of Kate. The site teases that Danny is a “lurker” and has a “thuggish appearance.” On top of that, he has a habit of showing up at “inopportune moments.” And according to TVLine, that makes the character “downright scary.”

But of course there is more to Danny than just his intimidating behavior. The site adds that Danny “has a mission” – and nothing can stop him from following through with it.

While Danny sounds pretty suspicious, “Secrets and Lies” fans know that there is much more to the story than what’s on the surface. Check out a casting roundup to learn a little bit more about the other key players in the mystery surrounding Kate Warner’s death:

  • Annalynne McCord – McCord will be playing Melanie Warner, the wife of Patrick Warner, brother to Eric. Melanie is described as “outspoken” and “slightly inappropriate.” While she has the Warner last name, the family does not fully accept her, according to Deadline.
  • Mekia Cox – Meet Amanda Warner, sister to Eric. Cox’s character is a criminal attorney and will work on clearing her brothers name when he becomes a suspect in Kate’s murder.
  • Terry O’Quinn – O’Quinn will play John Warner, the father of Eric, Amanda and Patrick. He’s described as a “charming and lovable finance magnate.”
  • Charlie Barnett – Barnett will portray Patrick Warner, John Warner’s youngest son. His wife is McCord’s Melanie.

“Secrets and Lies” Season 2 will premiere mid-season on Wednesdays on ABC.
