Selena Gomez, Justin Bieber Spent Thanksgiving Apart, Family Reportedly Struggling With Relationship
Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber may be content with their new relationship, but the “Wolves” singer’s family is still having some trouble accepting her romance with her ex-boyfriend. The stars, who dated off and on from 2011 to 2014, have been spending a lot of time together but were forced to take a break over the Thanksgiving holiday.
Sources told E! News that Gomez and Bieber decided to visit their families separately rather than spend the special time together. “They both spent Thanksgiving with their families. Justin went to Canada and Selena was in Texas,” an insider told the media outlet.
Although they chose to be apart over the holidays, it doesn’t mean their rekindled romance is falling apart. “They are still doing really well together, but they agreed it was best for them to be with their families for the holiday,” the source added.
Bieber and Gomez seemingly confirmed they were back together when the actress was spotted passionately kissing the “Purpose” singer during his hockey game. “They don’t want to date anyone else. They both are very committed to making this work,” the insider added. “Justin and Selena have grown up since the last time they were together.”
Although the two are determined to have a successful relationship, Gomez was the one who felt that spending the holidays apart was the best option for the sake of their families.
“Selena felt it was too soon for Justin to come to Texas with her. Her family is still getting comfortable with the idea of them back together,” the source revealed.
Despite her family’s struggle to accept Bieber, who they believe is the reason why Gomez spent time in rehab and was treated for depression, the singer has high hopes that he may be welcomed on Christmas.
“Justin says he hopes he can spend Christmas with her but knows that it will take a very long time for her family to accept him back in,” an insider said.
Even though there is no guarantee that Bieber will be welcomed in the Gomez home by Dec. 25, sources have insisted that the “What Do You Mean” singer has been working on changing his ways and trying to become a better man.
